Who raised
you up?

My Mum raised me up. When I chose to advocate, I knew she would have faith in me to do what I felt I must — especially when it was for the good of so many.

There is no single answer. We are shaped by family, teachers, friends, students, colleagues, and countless others whose influence may never be fully visible to the world.

My parents raised me in the quiet, traditional Chinese way. There were no ‘I love you’s’ or hugs after a hard day — but they showed love through actions and the certainty they would always be there.

My father and mother taught me to believe in myself, to keep going when things were difficult, and to treat people with kindness and respect. Their support gave me resilience.

Very few people rise alone. Most of us are standing today because someone helped carry us when we needed it most.

I was raised by a woman whose strength became the foundation of my life. Every time I need strength, I carry a piece of her within me.

I was raised up by people who offered sanctuary, believed in my potential, gave me trust, mentorship and the space to flourish.

A simple yet powerful question. My immediate answer is my Dad — and there have also been many people along the way.

My grandparents, parents and mentors raised me up. I’m grateful for a village that led me through my bumpy road.
